I have a couple of suggestions for the developers. Firstly, please can we have the ability to mark books as favourites, and 'pin' our favourites to the top of the app's lists, or maybe even make a seperate list for the marked favourites? Also, the 'mark finished' facility should be optional, and we should have the ability to switch it off in the settings: some of us like to re-read good books, and don't want to get rid of them. @Ric TheSeagull: no app, except the phone's native camera, can write directly to SD card in any version of Android later than Gingerbread. This is an OS feature, not the fault of the app. Please stop asking the developers for the impossible. Full Review

New update still can't download books to sd card!!! The app itself is very good as well as the books. Unfortunately, the biggest downside is a massive disadvantage, that you cannot yet download the books to the sd card. This means the app will drink up your internal storage thereby limiting me to just one book, which may at some stage need to be uninstalled because of the storage issue and use a different app altogether. The app itself is smooth to operate and excellent realism to the actual book with the added bonus to zoom in on pages. I also love the night mode it has too! Full Review

It's an amazing app.... I live using it.... I will give 5 stars if you work on my suggestion of creating a folder like system in which we can keep all the books together of a particular category wise.... Which makes it easy to organise and search.... It would act like a shelf of different books but categorized.... Please create this feature... Thank you Full Review

Love the new skim mode, footnote handling, highlighting, and visual refresh. Very fast and fluid feeling, even on huge epubs with many footnotes like the Bible. The best ePub reader now. UPDATE 2017-12-15: Neglected app with almost no active development or response to valid feedback. Add ability to disable dictionary lookups. Add continuous highlighting. Add the ability to make collections or "shelves" of books for personal organization. Add audiobook support for books with audio versions... and on and on. PLEASE! Full Review

I'm very disappointed that Google Books will not cast to the Google home or Google mini speakers, let alone in the other speaker in the network. Since virtually any other book can be used in the Read Aloud feature, it seems it would simply be second nature for Google to enable casting to one of its devices. This is maddening to me, I was really thinking it would do that. Shame, Shame Google. Full Review

I love reading. I hate reading using this application. When people wonder why others illegally download media, they should look no further than this application. If you want to buy something and then have no rights to it and not be able to use it the way you want to even though you own it, then definitely use this product! Full Review

There is no way to organize uploaded or purchased books - users have been asking this for years, but in different ways. There needs to be a way to organize your uploaded or purchased books into series or authors or how every the user needs. Google are you listening! I have deducted a star - I keep getting anime suggestions for book. I have never purchased any and Mark them as not interested but more show up! Full Review

Using this for research, reason I got it was the books I needed are only available on google books. Basic reader, has the usual hi light feature. Zooming can be quite annoying as it won't stay zoomed even when you've locked the zoom. No option to swipe L or R to turn page, only scroll down. It's OK, but could be a lot better. Full Review

Kindly get this done else read a loud is of no use. Also if u cant add scroll down scroller. Then read aloud should stop at page end. only start once next page is turned. Full Review

Awesome I love this. I fumbled around with other well known names only to become frustrated at having to install Adobe or other 3rd party apps to download. Google Play books is so user friendly and I can access my books from any device without fuss. I am an older reader with visual problems that stopped me reading paperbacks years ago. Now, with filters like night mode and a choice of backgrounds, fonts and sizing... I'm back in the game. I can't recommend this highly enough. Full Review

Read aloud became unavailable with the newest update. I was in the middle of a book. It's very frustrating as I don't have time to stare at a screen but used to be able to listen while working. I'll be switching to kindle. Shame because i spent a lot of money on these books. Also as everyone else is begging for there's no way to sort the books into folders. There are plenty of #free books available in the play store, especially many classics. This app stores all data on internal storage despite the presence of external xSD memory card, and internal data storage takes up more space than the app itself! I mean, seriously, the app is taking up 1.2GB of storage on my phone. That's gigabytes in case anyone thinks it's a typo! So I'm taking away two stars until Google can get this app's hunger for data under control. 🍽️🍛🍽️ Full Review

Google is always judged way harsher then others! I'm not sure why we all tend to do that..but we do. The fact is- there isn't really anything wrong with this app at all. It doesn't deserve the low rating it currently has. We are all just pissed at Google -because we feel manipulated by their very clever mining of our personal data -that has been going on for years in exchange for their "free", addicting and highly useful services. My problem was fixed by turning off the lock screen. But now my phone is always exposed because I use this app too frequently to have any issues with it. My problem is resolved but no thanks to Google. I still cant make the other voices in a voice set work for reading aloud a book I still have to listen to the default first voice in a voice set.
